Born of a creative spirit married to a natural desire for simplicity and practicality, the art of Melinda Taylor is both beautiful and functional.
You'll find nuno felt, a felting technique which is lightweight with drape and flexibility and presents the possibility of transparency, interesting texture, pattern and layering of materials offering a myriad of possibilities.
Developed by Polly Stirling and her assistant, Sachiko Kotaka, in 1994 in Australia — the love of felt and a tropical climate where it was too warm to wear traditional felt most of the year lead to the discovery that by manipulating a small amount of wool fiber through a fine base weave a felted 'fabric' could be made with characteristics quite different from traditional felt.
You'll also find beaded jewelry using a variety of different beads including pre-Colombian style clay beads, glazed beads and beads made from nuts and seeds from Colombian Craft Connection.
